Track o’ the Week

I finally got that damn logo in place! My current host gives me about a million more bandwidth that I need for a blog, so to help justify my monthly fee I decided to upload a track of the week chosen by yours truly. I will upload it every Sunday night and it will be available until the next week. I might write a little something about, I might now. I hope you like it. The track can be found under the “Track of the Week” section in the sidebar. Just right-click and save as to download it. Let me know what you think about the track, too. Just comment about it on any of the entries.

This weeks selection is by a band called Vampire Weekend. I just found out about them actually and I can’t stop listening to their self-titled album. All their beats and grooves sounds relatively simple, but they are very catchy. Take a listen.

My Year in Lists

I’m about a month late, but I figure we are still in very early 2008 so this is still valid. I am going to give you my top 5 of 2007 in a couple of different categories. I know these are highly debatable topics, but these are the ones that come off the top of my head. Please leave your top 5’s in the comment section. I will gladly take some advice.

Top 5 Albums of 2007
1. The pillows – Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!
2. The Shins – Wincing the Night Away
3. The Office – A Night At the Ritz
4. Modest Mouse – We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank
5. Kevin Drew – Spirit If…

Special Mention: Someone Still Loves you Boris Yelstin – Broom
This album is from 2006, but I just discovered it this year. It is one of my favorite albums ever so please give it a listen.

Top 5 Video Games of 2007
1. Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)
2. Portal (PC)
3. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Wii)
4. Team Fortress 2 (PC)
5. Halo 3 (Xbox 360)

Special Mention: Zelda: The Twilight Princess
This ran into the same problem as above with it being released in 2006. However, this gem was released in December of ’06 so it was right on the cuff. I love the Zelda series with all my squishy organs and muscles.

Top 5 Movies of 2007
1. Juno
2. The Darjeeling Limited
3. No Country for Old Men
4. Paris, je t’aime
5. Hot Fuzz

Special Mentions: Transformers and TMNT
I couldn’t very well place this in the Top 5 because to be honest they probably lack the qualities of a good movie, but they get a mention because these were such a major players in my childhood. I was probably giddier than a school girl when I was watching them. If you grew up with these characters you will love the movies.

These are very subject to change upon further review, but this is a quick list of things that stuck out Please check any of these out, if you haven’t already, and tell me what you think.
